Ray-Ban is an Italian / American brand of luxury sunglasses and eyewear created in 1936 by the American company Bausch & Lomb. The Ray-Ban brand is known for its Wayfarer and Aviator sunglasses lines. In 1929, U.S. Army Colonel John A. Mac partnered with Bausch & Lomb, the then-New York-based manufacturer of medical equipment, to create aviation sunglasses. These sunglasses have been redesigned several times and patented as Ray-Ban Aviator. Today it is the No. 1 selling sunglasses company in the world.
